1. AFS Year Program

Melalui program bertenggang waktu kurang lebih satu tahun ini, siswa Indonesia yang memenuhi persyaratan mempunyai kesempatan untuk tinggal bersama keluarga angkat di suatu negara asing dan bersekolah di SMA setempat.

Periode pendaftaran : April-Mei

Periode program :

Maret* - Feb** : untuk negara tujuan Jepang
Agustus* - Juni** : untuk negara tujuan Amerika Serikat, Australia, Belanda, Belgia, Italia, Jerman, Norwegia dan Swiss

2. YES (Youth Exchange and Study)***

Program YES merupakan program beasiswa penuh yang diberikan melalui mitra AFS-USA, Inc. yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman antara masyarakat Amerika Serikat dengan masyarakat negara-negara bermayoritas muslim.

Untuk program pertukaran jangka pendek, kamu dapat langsung menghubungi chapter Bina Antarbudaya di seluruh Indonesia.

Program-program Hosting (Penerimaan Siswa Asing)

“I would like to know more about the real life behind the nice beaches Indonesia's islands have. Get to know the history of the country, the people, the language spoken, the cuisines and the religions. So many questions were there, when I left rainy Belgium on August 1997. Questions which slowly found and answered during my stay until May 1998. Those answers have helped me to build up my mind about so many things.

Indonesia also fulfilled all my expectations that I had concerning about Islam. As it is the biggest Muslim nation in the world, it was impossible to hide from it. I completed the Ramadhan and attend other Islamic festivities. Honestly I must say that those experiences had made it easier for me to understand the religion, especially after 9/11 when all Muslim were considered as fanatics and terrorist”. Program yang berjangka waktu kurang lebih sebelas bulan ini, memberikan kesempatan bagi siswa asing untuk tinggal di keluarga angkat. Selain bersekolah di SMA setempat, mereka diharapkan dapat belajar mengenai kebudayaan setempat, adat istiadat dan bersosialisasi dengan lingkungannya.

2. ASIA 2000

Program ini bekerjasama dengan AFS New Zealand dengan mengirimkan gurunya untuk tinggal dengan keluarga angkat dan melakukan observasi dan presentasi di sekolah-sekolah dalam kurun waktu 2-3 minggu.

3. Teacher Linkages Program (TLP)

TLP merupakan sinergi antara Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise (KIPE) dan Yayasan Bina Antarbudaya yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah melalui keterlibatan masyarakat. Dengan prinsip kolaboratif, sinergii dan kegiatan kolektif di masyarakat, TLP mendorong berbagai pihak berperan aktif dalam Komunitas Peduli Pendidikan berbasis sekolah.

Siapa saja yang ada dalam program ini ?
Kepala Sekolah dan Guru dari Resource School (Sekolah Rujukan), Kepala Sekolah dan Guru dari Twinning School (Sekolah Kembar), Penilik Sekolah, Dewan Sekolah, Orang Tua Murid (POMG), Relawan Korporasi, Relawan LSM dan Relawan Individu.

4. Visiting Teacher Program (VTP)

VTP di waktu yang lalu merupakan sinergi antara Yayasan Bina Antarbudaya (YBA), Deutsche Internationale Schule (DIS) dan Kedutaan Besar Jerman.

Visiting Teachers Program (VTP) memberikan kesempatan kepada guru untuk mendapatkan wawasan dan pengalaman baru tentang proses belajar-mengajar yang berbeda dengan yang biasa diterapkan selama ini. Cara-cara baru ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan motivasi guru maupun siswa dan mengembangkan partisipasi aktif dalam proses belajar-mengajar.

Selanjutnya program ini diharapkan dapat dilaksanakan setiap tahunnya dan bekerjasama dengan sekolah-sekolah internasional lainnya.

5. Domestic Hosting Program

Sesuai dengan usulan hasil Mukernas Bina Antarbudaya tahun 2003, Domestic Hosting Program (program pertukaran antardaerah di Indonesia) bertujuan meningkatkan persahabatan antardaerah untuk memperkecil jurang perpecahan di Indonesia menuju terciptanya dunia yang lebih damai dan adil bagi semua.

Sebagai pilot program, akan dipilih 10 siswa SMA asal Aceh dan Sumut yang terkena dampak tsunami tetapi berprestasi, memiliki potensi kepemimpinan dan tentunya lulus seleksi yang diadakan oleh Bina Antarbudaya, untuk dikirimkan ke beberapa daerah di Indonesia, tinggal dengan keluarga angkat dan melanjutkan sekolah di SMA setempat.

The Tsunami that hit Asia in December 26, 2004 has left Aceh with more than 200.000 casualties, hundreds of thousand wounded, millions of homeless people who are now staying in refugee tents and local family houses. Four out of five Tsunami victims need psychological help. The Tsunami has lead to changes such as city maps, places where people live and how people think. It also awakened the whole nation and the world. This is one of the times when we need to ask ourselves who we really are and what we could do.

Bina Antarbudaya has come up with two programs that are expected to fundamentally and positively help rebuilding Aceh through the development of Aceh people :

1. The Domestic Hosting Program
2. The “Sekolah Tenda” (School in Tents)

DOMESTIC HOSTING PROGRAM
Education Rescue with Long Term Impact

Traditionally, Bina Antarbudaya main program has been exchanging Indonesian high school students with those in foreign countries in order to promote intercultural understanding and world peace. The exchanges take the form of sending and hosting programs. The students would stay with host families and go to host schools and actually live people to people experience. Through its 50 years of exchange programs, Bina Antarbudaya has been enjoying good relationship with Indonesian Department of Education and has strong community base through its 15 chapters all over Indonesia.

Bina Antarbudaya also has strong selection process aimed at identifying and supporting Indonesia future leaders. An ideal future leader is defined as one that has good personal qualities, has visions, result oriented, has social empathy, nationality and international out look. To respond to Aceh education problem Bina Antarbudaya has a plan to select potential Aceh high school students into a Domestic Hosting Program. These selected students will stay for their senior year with host families and will be helped into the universities for their future development as Aceh potential future leaders.

SEKOLAH TENDA
An Aceh People Empowerment

The December 26, 2004 earth quake and Tsunami has brought such severe damage to Aceh but along with it also a lot of opportunities that were never before possible for Aceh. One thing however, remain the same; whatever changes Aceh will experience it wil come through people. Education will have unquestionable importance and urgency. With this in mind Bina Antarbudaya has come up with the idea of SEKOLAH TENDA or School in Tents.

Sekolah Tenda is often mentioned by others as an emergency of damaged school buildings but Bina Antarbudaya starts the education in tents with a vision of the awakening and reinvention of Aceh through the improvement of Aceh people. This calls for a clear definiton and building an ideal human being and leader.

To narrow down its scope, Bina Antarbudaya is focusing its efforts to basic education and high school that include Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, Junior and Senior High Schools where ideal Indonesians are developed. It involves the development with strong spiritual base, personal identity, value and belief system, competence to create environmental changes that are condusive to staying peace and growing quality of life. The school will follow the normal education track but with vocational enrichments that will open the options to enter the wotkforce for the graduating students.

The school will come in three stages, first in tents, second in temporary and finally the full permanent scale. At the first stage, the school in tents is built following the need and location of new school mapping. It is planned to develop approaching its ideal envisioned form that includes integrated dorms, clinics, libraries, labs, sport and vocational enrichment facilities. At all time it will keep on addressing local concerns which involve intricate local and antional environment.

The name of “Sekolah Tenda” will remain in use even after the schools have turned into schools with permanent multi stories buildings. It will become the symbol of the awakening of people and humanity. Bina Antarbudaya is grateful to be part of this and heartily invite everybody in Indonesia and the world that have similar ideal and spirit to join.
